Entrepreneurship Class Open Now Do you have a business idea or are you interested in learning about self-employment? Project ReMade, Reentry: Making a Difference Through Entrepreneurship, is recruiting applicants to participate in a series of free workshops which will provide comprehensive entrepreneurship training, leadership development, and mentoring to women who were released from prison 1-5 years ago. Classes will be held February through May 2012 on the San Francisco State University campus and will be taught by students from the Stanford Law School. An orientation to the program will be held at the San Francisco Public Library at 100 Larkin Street, Mary Louise Stong Conference Room (1st Floor) on Thursday, January 5 at 6:00pm To review or print a flyer for this program, please click here.
Seeking Book Donations The Reentry Division of the Adult Probation Department is seeking book donations to distribute to people on community supervision in San Francisco. We’re looking for a wide variety of gently used books, including: nonfiction (exercise, travel, parenting, history, biographies, etc.); fiction (novels, bestsellers, mysteries, etc.); children’s books (all ages); and poetry. Please, no magazines or textbooks. If you have books you’d like to donate to help promote literacy among people served by the Adult Probation Department, please contact Jennifer Scaife, Reentry Resources Coordinator, at reentry.council@sfgov.org or (415) 558-2406.
Change to SF Parole Office and PACT Meeting Location The SF 4 Parole Office has closed. PACT Meetings continue to be held weekly on Tuesdays at 10:00am, and are now held at the San Francisco Parole offices at 1727 Mission Street (at 13th and Duboce).
Request for Proposals (RFP) to provide Child Welfare Services to incarcerated parents The San Francisco Human Services Agency announces its intent to seek proposals from agencies, organizations, and/or qualified individuals interested in providing Child Welfare Services to incarcerated parents and legal guardians who have open Child Welfare cases. The purpose of this service is to provide emergency interviewing of incarcerated parents regarding family and other child placement resources and to provide reunification jail visits, jail/prison case management, coordination with child’s worker, and development of post incarceration plans. The RFP will be released on January 5th. The pre-bid conference will be held on January 10th at 9:30am. Proposals will be due February 6th.
